It began when I decided to follow my dreams of a better life in the country. I had bought a little café in Wallabadah, a small country town 40 minutes outside of Tamworth. When I arrived in 2016, the area was green and lush, and alive with fields of crops and yellow canola. It was the most beautiful and calming place, especially
after leaving behind the corporate world and congestion that is Sydney.

But by the end of 2016 all that began to change. The big dry started, which resulted in the longest prolonged dry period in recorded history. With paddocks stripped bare and farmers paying thousands of dollars just to feed animals to keep them alive, they did what they could to continue to support me. As the drought continued with no sign of relief, I began to rely heavily on transient travellers that frequent the highway.

Not knowing when the drought was going to end or what was going to happen, I needed to find a way to keep the café alive. With visitors stopping to spend money in country towns by way of support, I realised that there was a market for
unique pieces.

From humble beginnings showcased in my café, my vision was to provide a range inspired by country life and the farmers, who with resilience and strength, dusted themselves off and carried on... introducing GIDDYUP!
